This FAQ is designed to help you understand how to prepare for your roach treatment, what to expect after service, and why follow-up treatments are critical for successful control.

Why do I need to vacuum before the flea treatment?

Vacuuming before the treatment helps stimulate flea eggs to hatch. Flea eggs are often dormant in carpets, rugs, and flooring. When you vacuum, the vibration encourages those eggs to hatch so the newly emerged fleas will come into contact with the treatment products. This step greatly improves the effectiveness of the service.

Why do I need to vacuum after the flea treatment?

Vacuuming after the treatment is just as important as vacuuming before. Regular vacuuming helps remove dead fleas and encourages additional flea eggs and pupae to hatch. This process allows the newly hatched fleas to come into contact with the treated surfaces, which helps speed up the elimination process. Be sure to dispose of the vacuum contents immediately after use.

Why do I need to remove items from the floor?

Fleas often hide in clothing, toys, shoes, and clutter on the floor. Removing these items allows the technician to treat all areas where fleas may be hiding, especially around baseboards, furniture, and carpet edges. Clearing the space also helps ensure a more thorough and effective treatment.

Why should I clear under beds and furniture?

Fleas naturally seek dark, undisturbed places such as under beds, couches, and furniture. Clearing these areas allows the technician to properly treat these hiding spots where fleas and flea eggs may be present.

Why do I need to leave the house during the treatment?

For safety reasons, everyone—including pets—must leave the home during the flea treatment and remain out for approximately 2–3 hours. This allows the treatment products to dry properly and prevents unnecessary exposure to the materials used during the service.

Why do pets need to be removed from the home?

Pets must be removed from the home to prevent exposure to treatment products. It is also important that pets receive their own flea treatment from a veterinarian or an approved flea control product. If pets are not treated, they can bring fleas back into the home and cause reinfestation.

Why do fish tanks and reptile enclosures need to be covered?

Fish tanks, reptile enclosures, and other pet habitats are sensitive to airborne products. If they cannot be removed from the home, they must be securely sealed with plastic wrap and covered with heavy blankets or trash bags, with all edges and vents taped closed to prevent exposure.

Why might I still see fleas after the treatment?

It is normal to see flea activity for a short period after treatment. Flea eggs and pupae can continue to hatch for days or weeks after the initial service. As these fleas emerge, they will contact the treated surfaces and be eliminated. Regular vacuuming helps speed up this process.

Why should I monitor flea activity for two weeks?

Monitoring your home for two weeks allows time for remaining flea eggs and pupae to hatch. If activity continues during this period, a follow-up treatment may be necessary to fully resolve the infestation.

Why is it important to schedule a follow-up treatment within 2–3 weeks?

Fleas develop in stages, and some may hatch after the initial treatment. Scheduling a follow-up within 2–3 weeks allows us to target any newly emerged fleas before they have time to reproduce and restart the infestation.

Why would it be considered a new infestation after one month?

If more than one month passes after the initial treatment without a follow-up and flea activity returns, it is considered a new infestation. At that point, a full initial treatment would be required again because the flea life cycle has had enough time to restart.

Who is responsible for removing or protecting pets during treatment?

Customers are responsible for removing all pets from the home or properly covering enclosures before treatment. Causey’s Pest Control cannot be responsible for pets that were not removed, not properly protected, or not disclosed prior to the service.
